Dynamic Pulsing® -- a technique to generate precisely
controlled fast bursts of laser pulses, or multipulsing -- is emerging as an
alternative means of enhancing material removal rates or improving the quality
of material processing without having to increase
pulse energy or move to shorter pulse widths or wavelengths. Various examples
of mul;pulsing are shown using a MOPA pulsed fiber laser at 1064 nm. The fast
bursts of laser pulses are dynamically configured and sequenced by the user
through a GUI, and are collectively triggered and amplified as a single pulse.
The temporal envelope of the fast bursts of pulses ranges from 10 to 200 ns,
and the individual pulses within each burst occur at a pulse repetition
frequency from 5 to 50 MHz.

R. Salcedo, CEO of Multiwave, serves as General Chair of FILAS, in close
collaboration with Dr. Valentin Gapontsev, founder and CEO of IPG.
