Jose Salcedo, Ph.D., serves as company CEO. Dr. Salcedo established the company after 15 years of focused R&D efforts in optoelectronics, lasers and fiber optics at the University of Porto (where he was Professor of Electrical Engineering and previously Associate Professor of Physics) and INESC Porto (that he co-founded in 1984 and where he also co-founded an Optoelectronics Center in 1990). Prior, Dr. Salcedo carried out professional activities in the US for about 10 years, where he obtained MSc/PhD degrees at Stanford University, California.

Sami Hendow, Ph.D., serves as Director of Engineering. Sami comes to Multiwave with over 25 years of experience in the development of advanced EO and photonic products and lasers for scientific and industrial applications. Prior to joining Multiwave, Sami was Engineering Program Manager with Spectra-Physics, developing high power, solid state and fiber amplified UV lasers. Before that, he was Senior Scientist with Northrop Grumman working on the qualification of fiber lasers and power scaling by coherent beam combining of fiber laser arrays. Prior to that, and as Engineering Director, Sami worked with Southampton Photonics as the technical interface with OEM customers, and with Ditech Communications as Engineering Director developing network performance monitors and fiber amplifiers for fiber optic telecom networks. Sami has a PhD in Optical Sciences from the University of Arizona, and has published many articles and received several patents related to lasers and photonic products.

Joao M. Sousa, Ph.D., co-founder, serves as Director of R&D.
